Henry’s return to ETNA

'You really see a product emerge that you can be proud of'

In 2000, Henry began his career at ETNA in Lichtenvoorde as a Quality Assurance Engineer. After eleven years, he decided to take on a new challenge, but he was happy to return in 2019. “When I came back, it felt like a homecoming: the atmosphere was still down-to-earth, sociable and everyone was there for each other." Now Henry is the line supervisor for the Braumann Brewer, a unique espresso brewing system, and plays a key role in both production and quality control.

Back because of the good atmosphere

"At the company where I started working after my time at ETNA, they were reorganising," Henry explains. "Because I had such fond memories of my time at ETNA, I decided to apply again in 2019.

ETNA Coffee Technologies is a down-to-earth, friendly company where everyone is equal and helps each other: here, we all pull together. Many former colleagues were still there and the atmosphere was as good as ever. I slipped back into a warm bath - it felt like a homecoming.

Henry the Braumann man

When Henry applied, ETNA had just started to bring the Braumann Brewer, an espresso brewing system developed especially for us in Switzerland, to the Netherlands. "I was given the opportunity to launch the production of this system within ETNA. To get to know all the ins and outs of the Braumann brewer, I went to Switzerland a few times. After that, we started production here in Doetinchem and I am ultimately responsible for it. That’s why people often refer to me as Henry Braumann.

Installation and testing

Henry is the line supervisor for the Braumann brewer. What does his working day look like? "I get an order list in the morning with what needs to be completed that day. I distribute these orders across the department where the Braumann brewers are assembled. I help out where necessary and test them all before they leave the department. Once the Braumann brewers have been approved, they go on to production, where they are placed in the coffee machines."

Henry also supports his colleague in Quality Assurance. "This is mainly about entry and exit control, which is an important part of the organisation. The parts that come in must be inspected, and this also applies to all products and machines that leave ETNA. It's nice and varied work, which I enjoy doing."

Involved from the start

What makes Henry happy at work? "Meeting deadlines and delivering a good product! Occasionally, I still drop in to test the coffee machines. As a result, I’m involved in the production from the beginning and at the end. That makes this work very special: you really see a product emerge that you can be proud of."
