ETNA Swims Along: Support for Local Social Initiatives at the ‘Zwem4daagse’ swim marathon
ETNA Coffee Technologies attaches great importance to supporting local social initiatives. In addition to our collaborations with Mini Manna Foundation, Solar Team Twente and Innovation Hub, among others, we also support social projects initiated by our own colleagues. A good example of this is the zwem4daagse (“swim4days”), where our colleague Sander Wubbels, Hard & Software Engineer at ETNA, volunteers. The zwem4daagse four-day swim event is held from 20 to 25 October in the swimming pool of Sportcentrum Laco Oude IJsselstreek in Terborg.
OUR COLLEAGUE SANDER WUBBELS AS A VOLUNTEER
Sander plays an important role in the organisation of the zwem4daagse event. Together with four co-organisers, he coordinates the volunteers, manages the administration and registrations, and ensures the purchase and presentation of the well-deserved medals. In addition, he maintains close contact with the pool owner and ensures that everything on site, from the setting to the coffee for the volunteers, runs effortlessly.
Sander also has a crucial role in coordinating the lifeguard and rescue brigade, of which he is an active member himself. Together with his team, he ensures that the safety of all participants and spectators is paramount. One way they do this is by properly regulating the influx of swimmers so that the pool is never too crowded, and by ensuring that small children stay safe and don’t get too close to the edge of the pool.
In this way, Sander and De Gendten work together to make the zwem4dagse not only a sporting event, but also a safe and successful experience for everyone!
ZWEM4DAAGSE
The Netherlands is a true land of water; we learn to swim for our safety in and around the water. It’s important for children to continue swimming regularly and to practice their skills even after they have obtained their swimming diploma. This is why the swimming and water polo association ‘De Gendten’ organises the zwem4daagse every year. This is a fun and sporty activity that children, family, friends and classmates can participate in together.
This year, De Gendten is organising the zwem4daagse for the 49th time. The event will take place in the swimming pool of Sportcentrum Laco Oude IJsselstreek in Terborg and promises to be another great success.
